Post-Operative Nurse (PACU)

Job Type: Part-Time (2 or 3 Days a Week)
Schedule: No Weekends, No Holidays, No On-Call Shifts

Location: Minneola Healthcare
Department: PACU – Outpatient Surgical Services
Reports To: Chris Ellis RN/OR Director and Jodi Miller RN/DON


Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Post-Operative Nurse with previous surgical experience to join our team on a part-time basis. We provide a range of outpatient ambulatory surgical procedures at MHC. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) procedures and provide high-quality care to patients as they recover from surgery. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible schedule with no weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patients’ vital signs, oxygen levels, and overall health post-surgery.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.
  • Provide patient education and emotional support to both patients and their families.
  • Assess patients’ condition and respond to changes in vital signs or surgical complications.
  • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare staff to ensure coordinated care.
  • Prepare patients for discharge by providing post-operative instructions and follow-up care information.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure.
  • Previous experience in a surgical or PACU setting required.
  • Strong knowledge of PACU procedures and post-operative care protocols.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in handling post-surgical complications and emergency situations.
