Sr. Staff Accountant
MHMR is looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Sr. Staff Accountant to join our team.
Under general supervision, the Staff Accountant coordinates financial activities for assigned division(s) and/or unit(s), completes funding source required billings and other reports, assures all financial activity is reflected accurately in the agency general ledger, monitors budget-to-actual expenses for assigned units, and provides variance reporting with appropriate explanations. The Staff Accountant makes recommendations and provides ongoing communication with business directors and/or program managers to assure financial aspects are managed according to GAAP, UGMS, Federal UGG, Contract and/or Grant terms as appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Defined Education: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Preferences: Knowledge of advanced computer systems and governmental accounting
Substitutions: Master’s Degree and one (1) years’ experience
Years’ Experience: Three (3) years
Defined Experience: Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field
License/Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License

Additional Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and analyzing various cost reports and providing detailed explanations for how the data was accumulated and any variances to prior year documents. Reports include but are not limited to: CARES Report III; Medicaid Administration Claiming (MAC); Early Childhood Intervention Medicaid Administration Claiming (ECI MAC); Cost Accounting Methodology (CAM); Mental Health, Early Childhood Intervention and Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (MEI); Intermediary Care Facilities (ICF), Charity Care Program (CCP); Intermediary Care Facilities Rate Enhancements; and Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC).
Assist in preparing year-end audit schedules for ACFR.
Assist in providing quarterly and annual training for MAC participants.
Responsible for transactions and maintenance of schedules related to User Fees (building, vehicle, computer).
Responsible for transactions and maintenance of schedules related to ISF repairs
Responsible for management of Fund 2, 6 and 8 transfer activities.
Responsible for asset management and related activities, including addition, transfer, deletion, depreciation, and asset roll-forward schedules.
Responsible for coordinating annual physical fixed asset inventory with agency programs and updating fixed asset systems with results.
Prepare performance schedules for MMR.
