LJP is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator (Core Recovery) for 3rd Shift: Monday - Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:00 am

he Equipment Operator in the Core Recovery Department operates industrial cutting equipment and overhead crane systems to safely prepare materials for processing and protect downstream equipment. This role is critical to maintaining material integrity, production efficiency, and workplace safety, ensuring that oversized or prohibited materials are properly identified, cut, and staged prior to entering subsequent processing systems. The Equipment Operator must follow strict safety protocols, monitor material conditions, coordinate with plant and maintenance teams, and promptly address or report hazards to minimize downtime and prevent equipment damage.

  • Operate industrial cutting equipment to size, modify, or prepare materials for downstream processing

  • Safely operate overhead crane systems to lift, move, and position materials as required

  • Inspect incoming materials for oversized, prohibited, or hazardous items and take appropriate action

  • Stage materials properly to ensure consistent and safe flow into processing systems

  • Protect downstream equipment by ensuring materials meet size and quality requirements

  • Coordinate with plant operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to support production needs

  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns immediately

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas within the Core Recovery department

  • Accurately complete required documentation, inspections, and production logs

  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall plant operations

Requirements

  • Qualifications

      • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in equipment operation (waste management, construction, or recycling industry preferred).
      • Certifications: Forklift certification and valid driver’s license (required); additional certifications a plus.
      • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in various weather conditions, and perform repetitive movements.
      • Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow safety protocols, and effective communication skills.
      • Work Environment: Ability to work in an outdoor setting with varying temperatures and conditions, and in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
