Job Title: K–12 Student Success Coordinator

Job Goal: The K–12 Student Success Coordinator is a district-level certificated/licensed
professional responsible for leading and coordinating comprehensive college, career, and
student-success systems K–12 with a primary focus on grades 6–12. The Coordinator provides
direct student guidance, develops and implements sequential post-secondary and career
curricula and pathways, assists with state-required reporting and records, coordinates
transition and wraparound services, builds community and employer partnerships, manages
related platforms and data systems, and advances equitable post-secondary outcomes for
students in our rural district.
Essential Requirements:
1. Deep knowledge of secondary graduation requirements, post-secondary pathways (college,
community/technical college, apprenticeships, trade programs, military, direct employment),
CTE/dual-enrollment systems, and Colorado Department of Education guidelines (including
CDE’s “Big Three” and Graduation Guidelines).
3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with building principals, curriculum teams,
district staff, and community partners.
4. Proficiency with student information and program management systems (PowerSchool, Otus,
Xello, or comparable platforms), data analysis and reporting, and standard office productivity
tools.
5. Strong organizational, communication, and event coordination skills; ability to manage
multiple projects, calendars, and logistical details.
6. Commitment to confidentiality (FERPA), equity, cultural responsiveness, family engagement,
and rural community needs.
7. Willingness to pursue funding opportunities, assist with grant/scholarship writing, and
represent the district at community and professional events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Strategic Planning
1. Lead development, refinement, and districtwide implementation of the district’s “Profile of a
Learner” in collaboration with administrators, curriculum teams, counselors, teachers, families,
and community partners.
2. Design, implement, and maintain a coherent, sequential post-secondary and career readiness
curriculum and pathway for grades 6–12, incorporating career exploration, academic planning,
employability skills, college/work readiness, and transition planning.
3. In coordination with building administrators, create and manage student courses/pathways
and related experiential opportunities.
4. Advise administration and curriculum teams on graduation requirements and ensure
curriculum offerings meet state standards and district learner profile goals.
Staff Support and Scheduling
5. Collaborate with building principals and administrators to develop master calendars,
coordinate program schedules (advisory, CTE, dual-enrollment, work-based learning), and
integrate services across buildings.
6. Assist teachers and administrators with mid-semester enrollments, credit evaluations,
schedules, course selection policies, and integration of incoming students
Direct Student and Family Services
7. Provide individual and small-group college, career, and academic counseling; develop and
maintain Graduation Plans; advise on course selection, schedule changes, drops, credit
recovery, and graduation planning.
8. Lead and implement orientation programs for transitioning 5
th graders and new students to
Hemphill Middle school as well as for 8
th graders and new students entering Strasburg High
School.
9. Guide students and families through post-secondary pathways (two-year and four-year
colleges, community and technical colleges, apprenticeship programs, trade schools, military,
and direct employment).
10. Assist with post-secondary applications, resumes, job applications, and scholarship
searches; plan and lead FAFSA/financial aid workshops and other college/career preparation
events and college tours.
11. Support AP, SAT/ACT preparation programs and coordinate college-entrance preparation
resources as needed.
Work-Based Learning, CTE, and Postsecondary Partnerships
12. Coordinate and expand work-based learning opportunities (internships, job shadowing,
apprenticeships, cooperative education) and manage articulation agreements for CTE and dualenrollment.
13. Build and maintain partnerships with local employers, community colleges, trade schools,
workforce agencies, apprenticeship programs, and other postsecondary institutions; organize
employer/college visits, career fairs, and college nights.
14. Maintain current labor-market, college, and career resources tailored to rural students and
regional workforce needs.
Data Management, Reporting, and Compliance
15. Oversee tracking and reporting for CDE’s “Big Three” and Graduation Guidelines; ensure
accurate transcript review/entry, student record integrity, enrollment data entry, and timely
transfer of records between schools.
16. Maintain and manage student and program data in district systems (PowerSchool, Otus,
Xello) and other career/post-secondary platforms; produce regular reports on post-secondary
outcomes (enrollment, retention, credentials, graduation rates) and provide actionable analysis
to district leadership.
17. Assist with district and state reporting requirements (enrollment counts, end-of-year
reports) and advise on policy/program adjustments driven by data.
18. Maintain confidential student records in compliance with FERPA and applicable laws.
Special Programs, Wraparound Services, and Community Liaison
19. Serve as McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison: identify, support, and advocate for students
experiencing homelessness and facilitate connections to appropriate services.
20. Serve as Foster and Adjudicated Youth Educational Liaison: support and advocate for
students experiencing foster care or juvenile justice care.
21. Coordinate the district Care Cottage supports for families; organize holiday meals and gifts
for families in need and connect families to community resources.
22. Implement programs addressing interpersonal adjustment, student well-being, chronic
absenteeism, and other barriers to success; connect families to school and community
supports.
23. Serve as district manager and facilitator for Otus (READ plans, 504 plans, ALP plans, ELL
plans, Pre/Post Assessments, and related workflows) and Xello (post-secondary/workforce
readiness platform).
Administrative, Events, and Other Responsibilities
24. Coordinate and support dual-credit registration processes.
25. Lead parent and community outreach events (college nights, career fairs, financial aid
workshops) and facilitate employer and college visits.
26. Pursue funding opportunities and assist with scholarship and grant writing when applicable.
27. Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in district leadership and
planning meetings.
28. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent to support district student success
goals.
Qualifications / Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and/or Testing Required:
1. Master’s degree in education or related fields such as School Counseling, Education
Leadership, School Psychology, Career and Technical Education, or a related field preferred.
3. Minimum of three to five years of successful experience in teaching, school counseling,
student support services, program coordination, or related roles; experience in rural K–12
settings and with secondary/post-secondary transitions strongly preferred.
4. Demonstrated experience with student information systems and coordinating work-based
learning or articulation agreements preferred.
5. Experience with FAFSA/financial aid processes, scholarship facilitation, and organizing
community outreach events preferred.
Physical Demands:
Standing, walking, and sitting. Continuous hand dexterity. Occasional reaching with hands and
arms. Talk and hear. Lift or carry up to 10 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 25 pounds for
event materials or resources.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in district office and school settings with regular travel among buildings.
Some evening and weekend work required for events, college nights, and community meetings.
Work involves continuous contact and interaction with students, parents, staff, community
partners, and the public. Minimal environmental risks.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Days / Terms of Employment: 178 Days / Nine-month position (or district administrative
contract as designated). Salary and benefits per district policy and School Board determination.
