JOB SUMMARY:
The Academic Coach will actively support masters online and on-campus students, with a focus on newly accepted and first-year students, by facilitating course registration, identifying academic obstacles, and directing students to relevant resources and offices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
- Proactively connect with newly accepted and first-year students via email, text, and phone through Slate (training will be provided) on a regular basis to ensure smooth on-boarding in to our online degree programs.
- Provide guidance and assistance for students to register for their first year of classes and introduce them to basic student tools.
- Identify academic obstacles that students are facing and direct them to relevant resources and offices.
- Proactively communicate with and assist students who are struggling academically based on their academic standing status.
- Track conversations (including texts, emails, and phone calls) in Slate and prepare reports for the Associate Director of the Center for Student Success.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION:
The person in this position should have a bachelor’s degree, with a Master of Divinity degree or one in progress preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous work experience is not mandatory; however, this role primarily relies on cultivating relationships through digital channels such as emails, text messages, and phone calls. The individual in this position should possess strong and friendly communication skills.
SUPERVISION:
The person in this position will supervise no one.
The person in this position will report to the Associate Director of the Center for Student Success.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The person in this position will work in a standard office environment, typically sitting at a desk or table.

The person in this position will use the following equipment: computer and telephone.
