We are seeking a certified or licensed Paramedic who is ready to take the next step in their career by completing fire training within one year of hire—with the City providing financial support through a forgivable loan program. If you’re passionate about serving with purpose and eager to build a long-term career in both emergency medical services and fire response, we invite you to apply and help us strengthen the safety and resilience of our community.

PARAMEDIC functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Emergency Medical Response:
    • Respond promptly to fire and medical emergency calls, providing medical treatment and life-saving interventions to sick or injured patients at the scene.
    • Utilize radio, telephone, and dispatch communications to coordinate response activities.
    • Assess emergency situations and evacuate persons from danger, making forcible entry into buildings as necessary.
    • Administer appropriate medications and treatment protocols as per established guidelines, prioritizing patient well-being and safety.
  • Apparatus Maintenance:
    • Perform routine cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of ambulance and firefighting vehicles, ensuring readiness for emergency deployment.
    • Ensure the proper maintenance and functioning of medical equipment, promptly addressing any issues to uphold operational efficiency.
  • Public Relations:
    • Foster positive working relationships with hospital and emergency department staff, facilitating seamless transitions of patient care.
    • Educate the community about EMS safety by responding to citizen inquiries, presenting tips to local organizations, and assisting with public tours of fire station.
    • Uphold a positive public image by demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and compassion in all interactions with patients and community members.
  • Documentation:
    • Utilize electronic medical recording systems (e.g., ESO) to accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and interventions in a timely and comprehensive manner.
    • Provide detailed reports to hospital staff, updating them on patient condition, treatment provided, and relevant medical history for continuity of care.
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Note - This position is scheduled to work a 48/96 schedule, which means that they would be scheduled to receive overtime pay for working their regular schedule.
