Career Opportunities: Healthcare Assistant - Day Patient Unit - Band 3 (95815)

Requisition ID 95815 - Posted  - Health and Social Care - Guernsey

Service Area: Acute Services - Day Patient Unit

Salary Band: Band 3

Salary Range: £30,434 - £35,627 per annum

Working Arrangements: Full Time

About the Role:

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Day Patient Unit up at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

The Day Patient Unit consists of a 19 bedded ward area with additional seated waiting areas for ambulatory patients. A minor operation/procedure room with 2 bedded post-anaesthetic recovery unit also forms part of the unit along with an Endoscopy Suite.

Service users attend the unit for a variety of surgical, endoscopy, dental, interventional radiological and other diagnostic procedures.

The overall purpose of the role is to practice clinically as a member of the nursing and multi-professional team within the Day Patient Unit. This involves contributing to the evaluation of the effectiveness of planning and delivery of services and to be proactive in maintaining quality, service improvement, and patient flow in a safe and comfortable environment.

The Day Patient Unit relies on the multi-skilled nature of the team and whilst previous experience would be an asset, this role is also developmental so offers the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to provide assistance in, for example, the minor operations/procedures room and endoscopy suite. Pre-Assessment also forms part of the Ward responsibilities.

All staff within the Day Patient Unit are expected to rotate to other areas of the department when service requirements dictate, within the limitations of knowledge and skills.
