Job Description

Are you a passionate and skilled Certified Medical Assistant looking to make a difference in the healthcare industry? As a Certified Medical Assistant for Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists, your role will be crucial in providing high-quality care to our patients. This position will be based in one of our multiple locations, including Warrington, Doylestown, or Langhorne, PA.

Your responsibilities include medical administrative support, patient care, and vital sign monitoring. Your expertise in dermatology, hospital medicine, and urgent care, along with your experience in physiology, EHR systems, and hospital settings, will contribute to delivering high-quality care. You will also handle patient intake and medical terminology and ensure accurate documentation to support healthcare professionals and ensure optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to help others.

Additionally, candidates must be certified as a Medical Assistant and have a solid understanding of medical terminology and procedures.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Document complete patient histories accurately, including height and weight, and ask questions about past medical history before the physician examines the patient.
  • Enter completed information onto E-Clinical Works (medical records system).
  • Aid physician and physician assistant with routine procedures, suture removal, patient preparation for casts or injections, and proper instructions and information to be given to patients.
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly preparation and completion of patient medication refills.
  • Help in monitoring patient medication along with the Physician and Physician Assistant.
  • Keep stock of supplies for distribution to patients.
  • Pre-certification of medication or supplies.
  • Request x-rays for patients to be picked up from Doylestown Hospital before the patient's visit.
  • Make Hospital runs to the doctor's lounge, in-patient radiology, and OR with surgery films and orders to the proper offices before surgery.
  • Keep exam rooms clean and available for patients. Have closets stocked with all medical supplies, including needles, syringes, bandages, and casting materials. Daily wiping down tables and changing pillowcases, ensuring all drawers are cleaned and stocked with supplies. Restock all rooms with proper exercise pamphlets and surgery set-up papers.
  • Have BFI (hazardous waste material) adequately prepared and ready for monthly pickup. All red boxes are correctly closed and changed regularly.
  • Know DME and insurance, what to dispense, and where to send patients if insurance does not allow them to receive DME here.
  • Keeping a supply of gowns and shorts available for patients.
  • Cleaning of boats and monthly changing disinfectant in them. Cleaning of all instruments monthly.
  • Keeping up to date with OSHA requirements and ensuring all records are current.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Responsible for opening the office on specific days.
  • Filing/Scanning

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant with expertise in medical administrative support, patient care, and EHR systems.
  • Proficient in basic life support, patient monitoring, and intake procedures.
  • Skilled in performing vital signs, DME management, and medical terminology.
  • Experience in hospital settings, particularly in dermatology, urgent care, and hospital medicine.
  • Knowledge of physiology, emergency medicine, and working in Level I and Level II Trauma Centers.
  • Ability to work in various healthcare settings such as clinics, outpatient facilities, PICU, and with geriatric patients.
