Description


JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Has completed training and competency evaluation program or a competency evaluation approved by the State and holds a current certificate from the State.
  2. Must be enrolled in a competency training program approved by the State and performs only services of a type for which s/he has demonstrated competence.
  3. Personality attuned to the requirements of meeting needs of the infirm and aged.
  4. Demonstrates competency in skills and techniques necessary to care for resident’s needs as identified through Resident Assessment and described in the Plan of Care. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Working under general direction and supervision of charge nurse
  2. handling and serving residents to assure safety and comfort
  3. Observing instructions of nursing staff and performing in line with established routine
  4. Providing maximum resident care services to assure well being of resident to the greatest degree possible 
  5. Carrying out duties and responsibilities in conformance with established routine

WORK PERFORMED:

Under supervision to perform duties assuring maximum care, security and treatment:

  1. Assist with carrying out the Resident Assessment and Plan of Care
  2. Assuring physical comfort and mental well being of resident
  3. Assist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, and moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc.
  4. Observing and reporting symptoms, reactions, and changes
  5. Encouraging and participating in rehabilitative measures

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Knowledge of procedures and techniques
  2. Providing bedside services
  3. Familiarity with functions of various departments
  4. Understanding of standard techniques in personal service care of residents
  5. Care of equipment and supplies
  6. Awareness of sterile procedures and avoidance of contamination

SPECIAL DEMANDS:

  1. Work under close supervision with awareness that error may have serious consequences
  2. Exercise patience and tact
  3. Use of initiative and judgment
  4. Warm, outgoing personality and positive response to residents who may be demanding
  5. Perform willingly repetitive tasks
  6. Good physical and mental outlook
