About the Department
Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for a Head Golf Coach in the Athletics Department.
The Head Coach provides leadership and direction for a competitive intercollegiate program at Henry Ford College (HFC). HFC operates its athletic program with integrity and in full compliance with institutional, conference and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) guidelines. HFC sponsors seven sports at the NJCAA Division II level and competes in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Eastern Division. HFC sports include: baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, golf, softball, volleyball and wrestling.
This position reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for Team Members.
Position Duties
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Coaching or playing experience at the high school or club level.
- Valid Michigan driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coaching experience at the intercollegiate level.
- Playing experience at the intercollegiate level.
- Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations relating to recruitment and eligibility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Conduct program in compliance with Rules of Conduct for Athletic Department staff.
- Recruit players, select team and maintain appropriate coaching schedule.
- Educate players on and hold them accountable for, upholding ethical behavior and academic standards of HFC.
- Coordinate one Community Service outreach event as approved by the Athletic Director.
- Develop and maintain a work schedule (administrative availability, practices and games).
- Prepare conference schedule under the direction of the Athletic Director.
- Ensure MCCAA and NJCAA regulations are upheld.
- Attend appropriate MCCAA and NJCAA meetings and conferences as necessary.
- Coordinate team roster with the Athletic Director and Compliance Officer.
- Assist in fundraising in support of the program.
- Provide publicity information to the Athletic Director and Communications staff as needed.
- Plan for prevention of athletic-related injuries and properly care for and report injuries to the Athletic Director.
- Manage approved budget under the direction of the Athletic Director.
- Plan for appropriate equipment and supplies to be available prior to the start of the season.
- Inventory, issue and collect equipment.
- Arrange travel, food and lodging for away events with the assistance of the Athletic Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of qualifications and/or training.
