SPECIAL SERVICES CENTER Additional Information: Show/Hide - Provide leadership in establishing new programs and developing improved understanding of existing programs.
- Remain informed of legal requirements governing special education/persons with disabilities and ensure that these requirements are in place in the educational programs, services, and activities.
- Evaluate existing programs and change as needed.
- Serve as a spokesperson and provide district leadership in the area of special education.
- Answers special education questions for teachers, principals, and patrons.
- Provide staff development and training as needed.
- Keep up-to-date on developments in special education, curriculum and instruction.
- Assist staff in implementing new instructional ideas and strategies.
- Encourage leadership training, cooperation, and communication between staff and other academic programs.
- Work with staff to develop Individual Education Plans for students with special needs; such work includes but is not limited to the development of behavior intervention plans and other requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
- Participate in eligibility meetings; IEPs or other situations where support is required to plan, implement and supervise the implementation of special services.
- Keeps the Executive Director of Support Services informed of all activities and special programs.
- Coordinates and supervises Elementary Extended School Year.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Title: COORDINATOR FOR SPECIAL SERVICES
Credentials: Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate and Certification in Educational Administration
Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education. Master's degree in Educational Administration or related area.
Training or Experience Required: Minimum of five years teaching experience and a a minimum of three years in a special education setting is preferred.

Reports to: Executive Director of Support Services
Contract: 240 Days
FLSA Classification: Exempt
