     2025-2026 School Year


    POSITION:  Child Caregiver
    SUMMARY OF POSITION: Day-to-day caretaking and supervising of children in addition to implementing the program curriculum for infant-toddler and young preschool-age children. Must be available Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm. 
    REPORTS TO: Katrina Prieur and Lead Care Teacher 

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and support staff by participating in team meetings, sharing information, and assisting with classroom/program needs as requested.
    • Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions with colleagues and students.
    • Protect the confidentiality of student and family records by following all district policies and guidelines.
    • Maintain a positive, professional, and helpful attitude in interactions with students, parents, staff, and community visitors.
    • Greet visitors to Carrollton Public Schools facilities and programs in a courteous and welcoming manner.
    • Ensure the safety of all students at all times by actively supervising classrooms, playgrounds, and program areas.
    • Intervene appropriately to de-escalate conflicts or unsafe behaviors.
    • Physically lift, support, or restrain students when necessary to maintain safety, in compliance with district guidelines.
    • Model high standards of character, integrity, and ethical behavior in daily work.
    • Serve as a positive role model for students.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the building principal/center director/lead caregiver to support school programs.


    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Child Development Associate credentials preferred
    • At least three years of experience working with infant/preschool/young toddler-aged children preferred
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pound
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills are required
    • Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills 


    Must satisfactorily pass:

    • Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting.
    • Personal and professional reference background check
    • Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b.
    • Must possess or be willing to complete training to become Adult/Child/CPR/First Aid Certified
    • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
