ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for branding and marketing for City events and facilities through print and social media platforms;
- Develop and create marketing materials for both internal and external use;
- Utilize all social media platforms for the marketing of the City as directed, ability to attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and network users;
- Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (original text, images, video, or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages citizen participation/interaction as appropriate;
- Collaborate with other departments to publicize upcoming meeting, events, project status and all other pertinent information as it pertains to the City of Goose Creek;
- Assists in the development and maintenance of various City website(s);
- Responsible for the special event application process;
- Reserve and schedule all public and private event rentals for City facilities, coordinate other city staff resources as needed. Coordinates with renter to define logistics and determine other special requirements;
- Prepares rental agreement and determines fees and terms of agreement;
- Researches and manages grant funding for promotions and City events;
- Attends, as needed, city Council meeting, City Boards and Commissions Meeting, Community event and functions as the relate to the city media focus;
- Attends City activities and events as needed; some after hour and weekends required;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in communications, Marketing, Business, News Media, Public Relations or related field. Will consider a combination of work experience to include be not limited to one to two years of responsible communications experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge.
- Experience with social media, digital marketing and print advertising campaigns;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills,
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of digital marketing and advertising;
- Knowledge of media and journalism;
- Knowledge in web design, web development and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proven skills in writing, editing (photo/video/text) presentation and communication.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and the following physical abilities, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed indoors in an office setting with work outdoors, limited exposure to environmental hazards.
