The Role at a Glance – Bill Jacobs Land Rover Hinsdale Shop Foreman

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Shop Foreman to join our team. This pivotal role ensures the efficient operation of the service department, drives workflow management, and maintains exceptional customer satisfaction. As a Shop Foreman, you will oversee service lane flow, support the development of our technicians, and collaborate across departments to deliver seamless service experiences. What you'll be doing:

Managing Service Lane Flow:

• Ensure walk-in and tow-in customers are promptly written up and logged on the walk-in list.
• Coordinate hikes, Quality Control (QC) processes, parking congestion, and loaner fleet operations.

Driving Operational Excellence:

• Dispatch work fairly to technicians based on shop needs and client demand.
• Monitor shop flow to maximize efficiency, reduce guarantee hours, and maintain high service standards.
• Conduct active receptions with service advisors and customers to assess service needs.

Maintaining Quality Assurance:

• Perform daily quality control inspections to ensure workmanship meets dealership standards.
• Collaborate with the Parts Department to streamline deliveries and maintain parts availability.

Fostering Team Collaboration:

• Host weekly meetings with the General Manager, Service Manager, and technical team to discuss performance and process improvements.
• Support technician training and development to ensure compliance with manufacturer and dealership standards.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Satisfaction:

• Focus on maintaining Service 6 scores of at or above department expectations.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

Experience and Education:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry and 2 years in customer service.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education in automotive repair or management preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in software and tools such as Bsite, CDK, Topicx, myKaarma, Rapid Recon, and Multipoint systems.

Certifications and Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
