Compensation: $67,000 – $80,000 year-round salary, DOE, plus bonus opportunities

At AMS, Assistant Principals are key instructional leaders who help develop teachers, strengthen classroom instruction, and ensure students receive an exceptional educational experience.
Position Overview
The Assistant Principal at AMS Camelback plays a critical leadership role in supporting academic achievement and maintaining a structured, achievement-oriented school culture.
This role focuses on instructional coaching, teacher development, and data-driven academic improvement across K–8 classrooms. The Assistant Principal works closely with the Principal and instructional leadership team to strengthen teaching practices, analyze student performance data, and ensure high-quality instruction aligned with AMS academic standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong instructional leader with experience teaching core academic subjects in a Title I K–8 environment, along with demonstrated success in teacher leadership, instructional coaching, and classroom supervision.
This position requires a leader who is passionate about developing educators, improving student outcomes, and maintaining a positive and high-expectations school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Support implementation of rigorous instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and academic standards.
Conduct regular classroom observations and provide actionable feedback to teachers.
Support teachers in strengthening instructional practices in core academic subjects including ELA and Mathematics.
Promote strong instructional practices that improve student academic outcomes.
Teacher Development & Coaching
Provide ongoing instructional coaching and mentorship to teachers.
Support teacher growth through observation, feedback cycles, modeling, and professional development.
Facilitate professional learning aligned with school academic priorities.
Support teacher evaluation processes in collaboration with school leadership.
Data-Driven Academic Improvement
Analyze student achievement data to identify instructional trends and priorities.
Lead or support data meetings to develop targeted instructional action plans.
Monitor academic progress and support teachers in implementing interventions.
School Culture & Student Support
Promote a structured and achievement-focused school culture grounded in high expectations.
Support systems that reinforce positive student behavior and engagement.
Collaborate with staff to ensure students receive strong academic and behavioral support.
Collaboration & Operations
Work closely with the Principal and campus leadership team to implement school-wide initiatives.
Support operational responsibilities including testing coordination, scheduling, and compliance.
Participate in leadership meetings and network professional development.
Qualifications & Competencies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience in K–8 core academic subjects (ELA, Math, or self-contained elementary).
Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments.
Demonstrated teacher leadership experience, such as:
Grade-level or team lead
Department chair
Instructional committee leadership
Mentor teacher
Experience providing instructional coaching or supporting teacher supervision.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience using student achievement data to inform instructional decisions.
Commitment to serving students in historically underserved communities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership.
Bilingual (Spanish-English).
Experience supporting instructional coaching across multiple grade levels (K–8).
Experience working in charter schools or high-performing school networks.
Arizona Principal Certification or eligibility.
