Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Savannah Area for an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager supports the Controller and oversees the company’s accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and company policies. The Accounting Manager will collaborate with the Billing Manager to oversee billing and accounts receivable processes, assist with analysis and reconciliations, and help drive process improvements across the Finance Department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing daily accounting operations and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with the Billing Manager on billing and account collection processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Oversee the accounting staff ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial transactions and month end close. 
  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while guaranteeing accurate and timely employee compensation.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close reports.
  • Oversee the accounts receivable and collections process.
  • Research and review various tax returns and tax notices to include sales and use tax returns, payroll related and vendor related tax returns.
  • Perform and review account analyses, identify discrepancies, and ensure resolution to maintain data integrity.
  • Support the Controller with annual audits, lender reviews, and regulatory filings.
  • Manage staff workloads, provide training, guidance and learning opportunities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Monitor and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Analyze financial results, identifying variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review accounting and billing policies and procedures ensuring documentation is current and maintained.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency within accounting and billing workflows.
  • Perform other accounting duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or advanced degree preferred. Utility   experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • High level of expertise in the areas of payroll, capital assets and inventory desired.
  • Experience in multi-entity structures and consolidating financial statements a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel skills required) and experience with ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate problems clearly and concisely by collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret and follow an extensive variety of technical instructions.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity.
