THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead our Perth fitting workshop and support the continued growth of our WA branch. This is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day running of the workshop, including workflow, fit-up schedules, team coordination, quality, safety, stock control and customer handovers. Just as importantly, you will help promote a positive, accountable and team-focused workshop culture where people understand the standard, take pride in their work and support each other to get the job done. You’ll also work closely with Sales, Scheduling and Operations teams to make sure builds are completed safely, efficiently and to Norweld’s quality standards.
We’re looking for someone who is practical, organised and confident in leading and developing a team. You’ll need strong workshop experience, sound technical knowledge, and the ability to keep people, jobs, parts and priorities moving in the right direction.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the day-to-day running of the Perth fitting workshop
- Coordinate workflow, fit-up schedules, job priorities and workshop output
- Supervise, support and coach fitters and trade assistants
- Ensure trays, canopies and accessories are fitted to Norweld quality standards
- Monitor install times, rework, quality outcomes and workshop performance
- Keep the shed organised, clean, safe and well-stocked
- Manage stock levels, goods inwards, tools, equipment and workshop requirements
- Work closely with Sales, Scheduling and Operations on job readiness and delivery timeframes
- Support vehicle check-ins, customer handovers and technical enquiries when required
- Identify process improvements and help build a stronger, more efficient Perth workshop
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure WHS requirements are followed
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong technical and leadership experience in fitting, installation or automotive/technical trades
- Proven experience supporting, developing and leading teams
- Practical automotive knowledge and a strong understanding of WHS and Australian standards
- Willingness to travel nationally as required
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the business
- Commitment to continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Jim2 desirable)
- Sound knowledge of 4x4 Makes, Models and popular accessories and brands (desirable)
- Passion for the outdoors, off-roading and camping is a plus!
