POSITION PURPOSE

 

Reporting to the Planning and Inventory Control Manager, the Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring inventory availability to meet sales and distribution demand at all GMA Garnet managed 3PL service providers.

 

This Position Description will not be taken as exhaustive, and other activities may be required by the company from time to time.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Inventory Control

 

·         Coordinate inventory counts at all GMA sites and 3PL’s (monthly).

·         Review, plan, and coordinate inventory transfers and send packing slips to warehouse for all 3PL’s (daily).

·         Process inventory transactions (transfers and adjustments) to maintain inventory accuracy (daily).

·         General inventory admin tasks such as invoice reconciliation and stock entry

·         Transport co-ordination of truck/rail

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Financial

 

·         Maintain inventory levels within agreed targets.

·         Minimise the cost of inventory transfers by maximising available transport.

·         Minimise storage costs by optimising stock holding.

·         Analyse and report inventory discrepancies at 3PLs, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Occupational Health and Safety

 

·         Comply with legal, statutory, and duty-of-care obligations.

·         Comply with 3PL health and safety policies when visiting their sites.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Environmental & Heritage

 

·         Minimise the environmental impact of inventory transfers by maximise transport utilisation.

 

 

SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

·         Diploma in Logistics or Business

·         2+ years’ experience in inventory control or warehouse administration.

·         Experience with ERP (Netsuite preferred) and WMS (preferred).

·         Experience with MS Suite (particularly Excel intermediate ability)

·         Knowledge of inventory control methods and techniques.

·         Understanding of chain of responsibility (COR).

·         Excellent organisational, time management, communication, and analytical skills.

·         Thorough attention to detail.

·         Ability to perform well under pressure.
