Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION


The Wellness Counselor will support the Wellness Coordinator in implementing the district’s initiatives to improve the health and wellness of all students, faculty, and staff throughout the district. In collaboration with various departments within the SCCPSS Student Services Department and the Wellness Coordinator, the Wellness Counselor will support the implementation of services aimed at providing education, training, and support of the mental and physical health needs of students, faculty, and staff.


 


REPORTS TO:  Executive Director of Student Support Services


SALARY SCHEDULE:  Teacher


WORK DAYS:  219


 


 


REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Education Level: Master’s degree in school counseling, clinical mental health counseling, or social work.


Experience, Skill and Certification:  



  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience

  • Valid Georgia Service Certificate in the assigned service field (School Counseling or School Social Work)


Preferred



  • Certified candidates with a valid GA LPC or LCSW license are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor OR Georgia Licensed Clinical Social Worker will also be considered.


                                                                                              


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


In collaboration with the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the Wellness Coordinator, the Wellness Counselor will: 



  1. Evaluate student and staff mental and physical health needs, serious threats, utilization of current resources, and impact of services on the overall health and wellness of students and staff.

  2. Support the implementation of quarterly wellness activities to include workshops and information sessions for the SCCPSS community.

  3. Support the communication of wellness information and strategies to the SCCPSS community through newsletters, social media, and other relevant channels.

  4. Monitor the implementation of wellness practices at school sites.

  5. Provide reports on changes and the effectiveness of wellness services.

  6. Supervise and conduct wellness and mental health assessments as needed.

  7. Serve as a practicum and internship supervisor for clinical mental health students at participating post-secondary institutions.

  8. Assist in facilitating and supervising the district’s licensed professional counselor cohorts.


 


Terms of Employment


 


Incumbents will receive an annual contract.  The work calendar will be 219 days. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience.  Rev. 5/25
