Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel

Position Summary:

The Barista at our &More Sheraton Coffee Outlet is responsible for creating, preparing, and serving high-quality specialty coffee, tea, smoothies, and other beverages in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. This role delivers an elevated coffeehouse experience by engaging guests, making personalized recommendations, and showcasing a variety of artisanal beverage offerings.

The Barista contributes to a welcoming and energetic atmosphere while maintaining operational excellence, cleanliness, and adherence to brand standards. This position requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including espresso drinks, teas, and blended beverages, to standard recipes
  • Customize guest orders accurately and efficiently
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations and educate guests on menu offerings
  • Operate espresso machines, brewing equipment, and related tools safely and effectively
  • Input orders into MICROS/POS system and process payments accurately
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked workstations at all times
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including equipment setup, breakdown, and securing the outlet
  • Monitor equipment functionality (coffee machines, refrigerators, freezers) and report issues promptly
  • Bus tables and maintain cleanliness of guest areas
  • Complete cashiering reports, resolve discrepancies, and handle receipts per company procedures
  • Assist with inventory, stocking, and receiving deliveries as directed

  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests with genuine hospitality
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide personalized service
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members
  • Support team members to achieve shared service and operational goals

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all company safety, sanitation, and security policies
  • Adhere to food safety and handling procedures
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediately
  • Complete all required training and certifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, or remain active for extended periods during shifts
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25–40 pounds
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements (grasping, reaching, bending, twisting)
  • Work in confined or fast-paced spaces, including behind counters and service areas

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous barista or coffee experience preferred (espresso machine experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong communication and guest service skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple orders efficiently
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A genuinely nice positive attitude with a proactive, team-oriented mindset
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with MICROS or similar POS systems
  • Ability to build guest relationships and remember repeat guest preferences
  • Passion for coffee, beverage craftsmanship, and hospitality
