Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead the Oakville High School Girls Basketball program. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing a competitive basketball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This seasonal position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the game, and the ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices and training sessions for the girls basketball team.
- Develop game strategies and lead the team during competitions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and respect.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and progress.
- Monitor the academic performance and personal development of student-athletes.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure a cohesive athletic program.
- Organize and coordinate team events, including fundraisers, camps, and community service activities.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team skills.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with best practices in coaching and player development.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience preferred, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best both on and off the court.
- Commitment to the academic success and personal growth of student-athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Background check clearance as required by school district policy.

Provides positive learning experiences associated with the middle & high school basketball sports program located at
OHS. Provides guidance, leadership, and the fundamental skills necessary to execute the program in a successful
manner. Assume the leadership role in relation to team organization, style of play, practice schedules, equipment and
assigned responsibilities of the girls’ basketball program including High School Varsity/Sub-Varsity and Middle School
teams.

Benefits
Eligibility for benefits is based upon the number of hours worked or the percentage of the full-time contract. Benefits
offered may include retirement, medical, dental, life, vision, and long-term disability, as applicable.
Responsibilities
• Provide direct leadership and organization for all levels of the assigned sport/activity
• Provide direct ongoing supervision of all athletes, manage before/during/after all practices/conditioning
sessions, games/travel and other school-sanctioned events
• Develop appropriate objectives of the assigned sport/activity
• Maintain knowledge of league and district rules and regulations related directly to the assigned sport/activity,
student participation and parent/community involvement
• Continually teach and emphasize safety procedures and precautions to all athletes
• Manage the sport/activity budget, equipment and supply inventory, order all necessary equipment and ensure
all equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe condition
• Communicate (phone or in person-not email) with parents when a student athlete is academically ineligible and
ensure those student athletes do not participate in games until cleared by the athletic director.
• Ensure that student athletes who have violated the athletic code serve the assigned consequences and do not
practice/participate when consequences call for this action
• When applicable ensure the pick-up and return of student medications daily
• Ensure that all appropriate paperwork has been turned in and fees paid

• Operate and maintain district equipment as required insure their safe and proper use; protect the interest of the
district regarding pilferage, loss, theft or abuse of all district facilities and equipment
• Arrange for and manage all equipment repair and maintenance as required by the manufacturer, insurance
provider, and district
• Report, verbally and in writing, to the Athletic Director any equipment and/or facility found to be in an unsafe
condition
• Report all injuries to building administration or Athletic Director and complete appropriate report(s)
• Administer first aid and medication to students for the purpose of meeting their immediate health care needs, if
required
• Assume responsibility clearing all athletes who are returning to play after an injury through the building Athletic
Director
• Monitor student compliance with all provisions of the OSD Athletic Code and WIAA rules and regulations
• Immediately report all violations or suspected violations of established rules and regulations to the Athletic
Director
• Attend all league meetings directly related to the assigned sport/activity as directed and approved by the
Athletic Director
• Organize and conduct parent meetings prior to the season and provide ongoing parent communication
throughout the season
• Organize awards and recognition for athletes/participants
• Communicate results of each game/match to appropriate media
• Participate in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting
credential requirements
• Routinely communicate with parents and players using the approved notification systems
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Requirements
• Ability to motivate student athletes and interact positively with persons of different age groups and cultural
backgrounds
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, administrators and community members
Physical Requirements
• Stand and walk for extended periods during practices, games, and events
• Use hands and arms to demonstrate athletic techniques and operate equipment
• Communicate effectively, including speaking loudly and clearly in indoor and outdoor environments
• Run, jog, or move quickly over short distances
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach
• Lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 25-50lbs (balls, training gear, uniforms)
• React quickly to supervise and ensure student safety
• Physically assist or support students in skill development or injury situations
• Travel with the team to practices, games, and events
• Work in outdoor weather conditions

Qualifications
• Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
• Valid first aid/CPR Card
• Preference will be given to those who have coaching experience specific to the position
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintained positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and
community
• Willingness to maintain and improve knowledge through regular course work and clinics
• Meet the WIAA coaching criteria
• Clear driving record and successfully clear WDOL driving abstract
