Job Description

Position:                 Substitute Bus Aide - does NOT qualify for Health Insurance                                      Benefits


 


Category:               Classified, Transportation


 


Currently:               Days and hours as needed


 


Reports to:             Director of Operations or Designee


 


 
QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. High School diploma or equivalent required. 

  2. Must meet certification requirements of the State Department of Education.

  3. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.

  4. Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.

  5. Residence in the taxing district of Alliance City Schools is preferred.

  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Assists the bus driver in maintaining discipline when students are on the bus.

  2. Inspects student lists to prevent unauthorized travel.

  3. Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.

  4. Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion.

  5. Provides, when necessary, written records of violations of the student code to the transportation supervisor.

  6. Collects and turns over to the driver, or the transportation supervisor those personal items left on the bus by students.

  7. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.

  8. Assist in keeping assigned bus clean.

  9. Assists in enforcing the regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.

  10. Attends in-service or training programs as required by Board Policy, the Superintendent of Schools or State Department of Education.

  11. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the students as is expected by the driver.

  12. Performs any additional duties which may be assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or Director of Pupil Personnel Services.
