Job Description

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Staff Professional to join our team in Bridgeville, PA.

We are currently only considering candidates based in the Pittsburgh area or the broader Southwestern Pennsylvania region. This position requires a strong local presence, and relocation assistance is not available at this time. Candidates should hold a degree in Geology or Civil Engineering and have 1–5 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and construction observation/testing.

General Primary Duties

  • Perform advanced observations or tests to support the COT group. These tests may include but are not limited to foundation inspections or proofrolls.
  • Coordinate aspects of drilling projects (utility clearance procedures, oversight of subsurface explorations, site characterization, and visual soil classification)
  • Coordinate and review laboratory testing
  • Prepare geotechnical exploration reports, or pertinent sections thereof (including appropriate figures, test results, and final exploration logs)
  • Perform routine calculations, including settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, pavement section designs, slope stability, etc. under the training of senior staff
  • Support senior staff in the design and preparation of plans for retaining walls and other structures
  • Communicate with supervisors and others by phone during the course of the workday
  • Business development duties are generally limited to assisting senior staff with proposals, but personnel should always be attentive to marketing opportunities
