Job Description
The IT Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, security, and compliance of a small-business enterprise IT environment supporting company-owned laptops, a network router and switch, and cloud-based applications.  The candidate will manage all aspects of the network, IT equipment, and cybersecurity while providing client administration for Microsoft laptop systems, to include identifying and resolving any degradation, unusual activities or system downtime. This position ensures systems are secure, available, documented, and compliant with NIST SP 800-171 Revision 2 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 requirements. The IT Technician supports daily operations, cybersecurity controls, and audit readiness activities and serves as a technical point of contact during internal reviews and external assessments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain company-owned laptops used within the IT environment
  • Ensure endpoint encryption, patching, and security configurations are applied and maintained
  • Administer and monitor network components including router, switch, and firewall services
  • Maintain network segmentation and access controls protecting government information
  • Support physical security controls related to IT infrastructure
  • Support cloud-hosted applications used for business and CUI processing
  • Manage user accounts, access permissions, and authentication mechanisms
  • Monitor system and network logs for security-related events
  • Respond to security alerts and escalate incidents as required
  • Support vulnerability scanning, remediation, and verification activities
  • Maintain documentation required for NIST SP 800-171 and quality-related compliance
  • Support security awareness and insider threat training initiatives
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventories
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Must be able to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI); active Secret-level or higher clearance preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study, OR six (6) years related IT experience.
  • Windows workstation administration
  • Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching) and firewall administration
  • Endpoint security and encryption technologies
  • Cloud identity and access management
  • Log monitoring and basic security event analysis
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC requirements
  • CompTIA Security+ and Network+ desired.  Relevant cloud certifications a plus
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 40 pounds
