Job Description Summary
The Senior Network Engineer designs, implements, and maintains secure, high-performance enterprise and cloud networks. This role acts as a technical leader, subject matter expert, and manages complex infrastructure projects. This role leverages core protocols, cloud technologies, modern tools, and scripting to optimize performance and resilience, while collaborating with IT a mentoring junior staff, and driving best practices in architecture and security.
Location: Remote (United States)
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and optimizes scalable LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions by configuring routing, switching, and firewall components while continuously assessing emerging technologies to enhance network architecture.
- Oversees operations and maintenance by monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, managing upgrades and patches, and ensuring high availability and disaster‑recovery readiness.
- Ensures security and compliance by enforcing security policies, configuring firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN solutions, and collaborating with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks.
- Maintains comprehensive network documentation including diagrams, records, and procedures and provides regular reports on network health, capacity, and incidents.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in network engineering, including 2+ years in a senior/lead role.
- Cisco CCNA with in depth knowledge of cisco Meraki networking.
- Good understanding of Zscaler technology and networking.
- Azure network certification and a deep understanding of Azure networking.
- Proficiency with network monitoring, and automation.
- Demonstrated success and a proven track record in professional/life experience in specific job functions, projects, or industries, and military service can substitute for the formal education requirements.
You’ll Stand Out If You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate).
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Proficiency in automation/scripting (Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
- Strong knowledge of SD‑WAN, load balancing, and advanced firewall technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Zero Trust architectures and technologies, such as identity-based access control, micro-segmentation, secure access solutions (e.g., Zscaler, Palo Alto Prisma Access), and continuous verification models.
- A good understanding of AI tools.
