We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to lead our T3 Resource Room. This position is designed for an educator committed to delivering individualized instruction to students with significant learning, behavioral, or emotional needs, helping them see their abilities and not their limitations.

Position Summary

The T3 Resource Room Teacher provides specialized, small-group, and one-on-one instruction to students with disabilities. As the lead educator in this specialized setting, you will be responsible for creating a safe, structured, and stimulating environment that supports students' academic growth, functional life skills, and social-emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialized Instruction: Provide intensive, individualized, and small-group instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, and functional life skills, adapted to diverse learning styles.
  • Behavioral Support & Management: Develop and implement evidence-based behavioral intervention plans, including positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques within a "calming space" environment.
  • Data Collection & Progress Monitoring: Systematically collect and analyze data to monitor student progress toward IEP goals, using results to adjust teaching methods.
  • Supervision of Staff: Train and supervise paraprofessionals or aides to ensure the effective delivery of special education services.
  • Parent Communication: Maintain consistent and positive communication with families regarding student progress, behavioral adjustments, and goals.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification in Special Education (Endorsements in LD, CI, ASD, or EI preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a special education setting, preferably within an intensive, self-contained, or resource setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of IDEA regulations and IEP software systems.
    • Experience with Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs).
    • Patience, empathy, and ability to remain calm in crisis situations.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and union contract.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement planning benefits.
  • Professional development opportunities in special education best practices.
