Martin/Martin Wyoming, Inc. is looking for an experienced structural engineer to join our Cheyenne, Wyoming office. This engineer will have the opportunity for structural design on both local and national projects in markets such as healthcare, commercial, office, sports, entertainment, education, and residential. 


A typical work week can include engineering calculations, drawing development, site visits, etc. Projects are typically in the Wyoming and Northern Colorado area but can sometimes take us nationally, offering the opportunity to travel. This position allows for interactions with owners, architects, contractors, etc. early in your career along with opportunities for marketing activities.

Responsibilities


The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Strong working knowledge of building and material codes and how to effectively apply them.
  • Knowledge and use of computer design and graphics software, including use of AutoDesk Revit to produce Construction Documents.
  • Completes design calculations for project components.
  • Provides quality-control check of work produced.
  • Coordinates structural design with work of other disciplines.
  • Provides project construction administration support including shop drawing review, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and field observations.
  • Familiarizes self with products and construction procedures.
  • Provides field observation during construction.
  • Attends technical training seminars when opportunity is provided.
  • Works collaboratively with staff at Martin/Martin, Inc.
  • Works overtime, when necessary.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, other team consultants, and contractors.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff regarding design techniques, software, and code questions.
  • Assists Project Manager in the development and implementation of project specific QA/QC plans.
  • When requested, assists the Project Manager with monitoring design budgets and project schedules.
  • Learns provisions IBC, ASCE-7, and material-specific codes and how to apply them

Requirements


Required 

  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • BS plus a minimum of four years (or MS with a minimum of 3 years) of progressive civil or structural engineering experience.
  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future. 
  • Ability to work in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function. 

Desired

  • Master’s degree in civil or architectural engineering with an emphasis on structures. 
  • Instills confidence in communication and technical skills.  
  • Ability to design, detail, coordinate, and model small to medium size projects within time allotments and within project budgets. 
  • Experience following multiple engineering projects from start of design through completion of construction. 
  • Demonstrates time management skills to plan and execute projects. 
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to continued personal growth and development in all aspects of their work. 
  • Participating member of professional and/or technical society. 
  • Regularly attends training to advance knowledge of consulting engineering practice. 
  • Highly desirable to be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Wyoming 

 

Working Conditions, Skills, and Abilities 


This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required: 

  • Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
  • Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
  • Identify color
  • Read, communicate, and document in English
  • Determine and exchange accurate information
  • Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Compensation 


The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  

  • Base Salary: This is a salaried position with accrued time eligibility. (Accrued time allows additional compensation or time-off to be earned for any eligible hours worked exceeding 40 hours per week).
  • Base Salary Review: This role is eligible to participate in Martin/Martin’s annual base salary increase review process. 
  • Annual Bonus: This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary annual bonus program.  

Base salary review and increases, in addition to annual bonuses, are dependent on various factors, including a hired individual’s job-level and annual company performance.
