    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: July 7, 2026 - August 8, 2026, up to 6 Hours/Day X 20 Days, M-Th 

     

    POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide quality school-based therapy services, which includes but is not limited to assessment/evaluation, intervention/treatment, IEP planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation, and communication between teachers, teacher assistant, related service providers and families. 

     

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This description of the position of Occupational Therapist is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs. 

    • Evaluates the student's ability and formulates the student's occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews
    • Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention and reviews findings with family and staff.
    • Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
    • Participate in IEP/504 process, including collaboratively determining the need for occupational therapy as a related service under IDEA or as a reasonable accommodation under section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
    • Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery.
    • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.
    • Teach and train educational personnel in an effort to help student achieve his or her IEP goals.
    • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.
    • Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
    • Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and adaptive equipment and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible. 

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist and the National Board for Certified Occupational Therapists.
    • Such other qualification as the Board of Education may require.
    • Available in July for required training. 

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bilingual, English and Spanish
