- Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention and reviews findings with family and staff.
- Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
- Participate in IEP/504 process, including collaboratively determining the need for occupational therapy as a related service under IDEA or as a reasonable accommodation under section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.
- Teach and train educational personnel in an effort to help student achieve his or her IEP goals.
- Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.
- Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
- Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and adaptive equipment and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
- Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist and the National Board for Certified Occupational Therapists.
- Such other qualification as the Board of Education may require.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide quality school-based therapy services, which includes but is not limited to assessment/evaluation, intervention/treatment, IEP planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation, and communication between teachers, teacher assistant, related service providers and families.
