Job Title: Lifeguard (multiple positions)
Salary: $15.00/hour
Reports to: Pool Manager
Hours: 8am- 3pm, As needed

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To ensure the safety of all visitors to the aquatic facility and maintain orderliness.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains active surveillance of the pool area
- Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger
- Responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with district policies, procedures; completes related reports as required
- Performs all lifeguard duties, including ability to lift people out of pool, perform CPR/first aid, scan pool to ensure safety of participants
- Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of patrons as requested by supervising teacher
- Warn swimmers regarding unsafe situations
- Participation of in-service training as required by the school and district
- Asses situations swiftly and make judicious decisions regarding the safety of swimmers
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Completion of American Red Cross lifeguard training
- First Aid and CPR/Pro certification
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds
- Available to work different shifts
- Ability to maintain certification level physical and mental readiness

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick up, feel, and grasp objects
- Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard
- Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and paper weighing at least than 50 lbs
- Perform a Lifeguard Skills test during the interview process; includes endurance, a timed event, and demonstration of CPR and lifeguard rescue skills
- See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility
