Description
Purpose
The Log Scale Specialist will support the Resource Accounting Department by performing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple log yard scale houses from the regional office.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the full process of weighing in loads at multiple log yards
- Answer calls from truck drivers when they’re on the scale in one of our log yards
- Identify the species of the load and any defects it may have using camera feeds
- Verify load and truck information to ensure accuracy
- Accurately weigh, record, and print tickets for all loads using company systems
- Communicate proper procedure and next steps
- Process ticket verification and corrections
- Identify and troubleshoot issues within the software and physical systems that feed into LIMS
- Verification and entry of outside sales tickets
- Reconciling load receipt books with LIMS
- File physical load and scale tickets
- Maintaining trucker table
- Order supplies for the scale houses
- Develop working relationships with team members in the log yards you cover
- Coordinate with drivers, and log yard personnel to maintain efficient daily operations and solve problems quickly
- Monitor scale/log yard activity ensuring proper procedures are being followed
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General knowledge of wood products
- Proficient using Microsoft office applications
- 10-key, keyboarding, and PC skills including a good working knowledge of Excel
- Willing to start work between 5:30 AM and 6:15 AM (depending on the time of year)
- High degree of accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines, solve problems, and make decisions independently
- Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at a time
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working as a weighmaster/in a log yard
- Education or experience in accounting
