Reporting to the Business Systems Manager, the Business Systems Developer will serve as the internal D365 Finance & Operations Technical Lead.  This role combines hands‑on development experience with platform administration, technical leadership, and governance responsibilities.  The position serves as the primary technical execution lead for the D365FO platform, providing day‑to‑day technical leadership, administration, and execution oversight while partnering closely with the Technical Delivery Lead.

The role advises on technical decisions, owns platform‑level standards and processes, oversees outsourced development partners, and acts as the first‑line escalation point for production issues.  While a portion of the role includes hands‑on development, the primary focus is ensuring the quality, stability, scalability, and long‑term sustainability of the D365FO platform and its integrations.

This role must maintain sufficient hands‑on technical expertise to independently design, build, and deploy D365FO solutions end‑to‑end, including assuming direct development responsibility when external resources are unavailable or underperforming.

What You’ll Do:

Technical Leadership & Platform Ownership

  • Act as the primary technical execution lead for the D365 Finance & Operations platform, providing design guidance and enforcing technical standards
  • Own and maintain D365FO technical design standards, development patterns, and best practices in alignment with enterprise technical direction
  • Advise the Technical Delivery Lead on platform-level technical decisions, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Lead and enforce peer code reviews and technical design reviews for internal and contractor-developed solutions
  • Ensure technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational runbooks are created and maintained
  • Provide technical leadership for Microsoft Dynamics 365 cloud solution architecture, ensuring alignment with Microsoft reference architectures, platform best practices, and ChemTreat enterprise standards

Development Oversight & Hands-On Contribution

  • Perform hands on development for complex, high risk, or time sensitive D365FO changes, including the ability to independently take over development of any work item when required
  • Review and approve X++ customizations, extensions, integrations, and data entities
  • Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical specifications and solution designs
  • Provide effort estimates and technical input for enhancements, projects, and defect remediation
  • Ensure all development work adheres to established standards for quality, performance, and supportability

DevOps, Release, and Change Management

  • Own and oversee D365FO DevOps pipelines, branching strategies, builds, releases, and environment synchronization
  • Serve as the primary technical sign-off authority for D365FO changes, escalating architectural or high-risk decisions as required
  • Ensure SDLC and change management processes are consistently followed across all D365FO work
  • Coordinate code promotion and release readiness activities across development, test, and production environments

Production Support & Escalation

  • Act as the first-line internal escalation point for D365FO production issues
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts across internal IT teams, external development partners, ISVs, and Microsoft support
  • Lead root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions address underlying design or process issues
  • Proactively identify systemic risks and recommend platform or process improvements

Vendor, ISV, and Integration Oversight

  • Provide technical governance and oversight for outsourced development partners
  • Ensure external development work meets internal standards and contractual expectations
  • Serve as the technical owner for D365FO integrations and APIs, including troubleshooting and design validation
  • Coordinate ISV onboarding, upgrades, and compatibility assessments
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact when working with vendors and integration partners
  • Maintain the ability to directly execute development work to ensure continuity of delivery in the event of vendor delays, quality issues, or disengagement
  • Consult with customers on the nature of laboratory data
  • Export laboratory test requests and import laboratory results in LIMS

What You’ll Bring:

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong technical leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Deep understanding of D365 Finance & Operations architecture and development
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, release management, and change governance
  • Ability to govern and review outsourced or contractor development work
  • Experience coordinating complex technical issue resolution across multiple teams
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and stability

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of ERP experience, including strong hands-on D365 Finance & Operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a technical lead or senior technical authority
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver end to end D365FO development independently in a production environment
  • Strong background across Finance and Operations modules (not accounting-only)
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 cloud solution architecture, including designing, governing, and supporting enterprise-scale D365FO implementations in a cloud-based environment
  • Experience owning or enforcing SDLC and change management processes
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting integrations and APIs
