Community High School District 155 is excited to announce openings for nine-month special education paraprofessionals for the 2026-2027 school year. This role offers a competitive salary based on prior experience, along with a robust benefits package. Candidates will apply for this district-wide position, with multiple positions available throughout our high schools. Selected candidates may be interviewed collaboratively by representatives from all four buildings to ensure alignment with the needs and priorities of each school and the district as a whole.

Special Education Paraprofessional
Reports to: Special Education Division Leader
Length of Contract: Nine Months; 7 hours per day
Salary Lane: Paraprofessional Level II
Responsibilities:
The special education paraprofessional is responsible for providing direct services to certified special education staff
while providing services to the students within the special education program.
Requirements:
● Illinois state licensure - Paraprofessional, Substitute, or PEL
● High degree of interpersonal relations and communication skills
● Evidence of good organizational skills
● Evidence of good judgment, trustworthiness, flexibility, and emotional maturity
● Demonstrates leadership qualities and is self-directed
Specific Duties:
● Exhibit professionalism and commitment through punctuality and attendance
● Demonstrate the ability to attend work regularly to avoid disruption to district operations
● Support the goals and objectives of the school district, and assist the teacher in upholding and enforcing both
school and district rules, policies, and procedures
● Assist with strategies for maintaining orderly classroom behavior on an individual and group basis
● Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
● Work with teachers to establish and maintain open and positive lines of communication with students, staff, and
parents concerning academics and student behavior
● Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including the lunchroom,
bus, and some outside duty
● Assist students with personal care and physical needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or
positioning
● Must be able to lift and or push 50 - 150 lbs
● Conform to safety standards as prescribed
● May perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when necessary.
● Perform various clerical and record-keeping tasks
● Help manage student behavior, including intervening in crises and restraining disruptive or dangerous student
behavior as needed
● Establish and maintain positive communications and relations with staff
● Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned
● Perform other duties as assigned by the identified building supervisor or designee
● Maintain a professional level of confidentiality concerning personnel and student information
Essential Functions of the Job:
● Strength: exert force and/or lift of 10 - 150lbs, occasionally/frequently/constantly.
● Frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling. May involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling,
crouching, talking and hearing, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Mobility to work in a
