    Evening School Teacher – Mathematics
    Job Description
    The Proviso Evening School Program is seeking teachers to work hours 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. The Evening School Teacher will guide the learning process toward the achievement of the District curriculum and goals in an effective manner. Edgenuity is the platform used; however,  blended techniques are used when necessary. The teacher is expected to ensure a safe classroom environment, proper classroom management, and maintain reasonable rules of conduct, encouraging self-discipline and responsibility. The teacher must serve as a positive role model for the students, demonstrating professionalism that includes a positive attitude, positive and respectful communication, and professional appearance.

    Responsibilities

     
    • Report to work promptly
    • Maintain accurate attendance records
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students within the assigned classroom and appropriately respond to all emergencies
    • Ensure the protection of equipment, materials, and facilities as appropriate
    • Communicate positively with all staff, students, and others
    • Manage student behavior which supports a positive learning environment
    • Maintains a professional and positive rapport with parents, co-workers, and administration
    • Provide written and verbal feedback to parents regarding students’ progress (BAG Report) weekly
    • Document all interactions with parents in PowerSchool promptly
    • Assign and evaluate appropriate student work
    • Involve students in learning
    • Use appropriate school support and resource materials
    • Convey to students learning goals and the importance of material learned
    • Provide continuity in learning activities
    • Challenge students by using appropriate questioning strategies
    • Adjust the teaching pace to assure maximum student understanding
    • Provide appropriate remedial and/or enrichment material whenever necessary
    • Communicate high expectations for student performance
    • Interact with students in ways which are respectful and friendly, and which reflect an understanding of cultural differences
    • Provide students feedback on their knowledge and skill
    • Perform other job-related duties as directed by Coordinator/Deputy Superintendent for School improvement
    Qualifications
    • Must hold Valid Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL)
    • Must possess the appropriate subject-specific Grades 9-12 Illinois licensure endorsement for the position
