    Position Summary:  Each staff member shall make every effort, within the area of his/her professional expertise, and the scope of certification, to plan and implement an educational program for students with special needs according to district policies, as well as federal and state mandates.

    Qualifications:  Degree from an accredited college or university and a standard New Jersey certificate as School Occupational Therapist              

    Essential Duties:  The School Occupational Therapist has the duties and responsibilities commonly associated with this position, including (but not limited to) the following, which are performed directly or through the proper delegation of authority, within the framework of the general laws of New Jersey, the regulations of the NJ State Department of Education, the policies and rules of the Nutley School District, and the terms of the contract with the Nutley Education Association, with all of which he/she is expected to be familiar. As well, the position is responsible for duties commonly associated with communication positions, which are performed directly or through the proper delegation of authority.

    General Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Extensive knowledge of working with children with disabilities
    • Knowledge of sensory processing disorder and treatment
    • Ability to create sensory diets and train staff accordingly
    • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
    • Ability to work with children with behavioral needs
    • Knowledge of the NJ Special Education
    • Ability to administer standardized tests and produce written reports
    • Ability to implement IEP goals and objectives and monitor student progress
    • Maintains appropriate documentation in compliance with district and state requirements

       

    Evaluation of PerformancePerformance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education Policy.

    Additional Responsibilities: Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal or superintendent may assign or delegate.

    Evaluation:  Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on supervision and evaluation.

    Computer Skills:  Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position.

    Salary/Benefits: This position offers medical and dental benefits. Salary range is $67,000-$83,000.
