Position is responsible for providing a secure environment and reducing public safety risks in the college campus.
Responsibilities:
- Protect persons and property from unlawful activities and provide a safe and secure campus environment.
- Observe/report unlawful/ unauthorized activities. Identify suspicious people, behaviors and circumstances that may pose a public safety risk and take immediate and appropriate action to prevent incidents.
- Patrol campus/buildings. Monitor building conditions and respond to unsafe conditions, hazards and emergency situations. Follow safety guidelines. Respond to public safety alarms and assist with lockouts.
- Enforce parking regulations, give directions and respond to requests for assistance and information.
- Handle special assignments directed by the Public Safety Director/Supervisors such as driving the campus shuttle between locations on a regular or intermittent basis, special events, reception/visitor building posts and working in command office as needed.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent
- NYS Security Certification
- Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum of two years in a professional environment
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer skills
- AED knowledge
- Fire Alarm System knowledge
- Customer relations
- Verbal and written communication
