Job Description
The Material Control Supervisor leads daily material control and receiving operations, ensuring accurate and timely flow of materials to support assembly, machining, and welding. This role supervises hourly personnel, administers the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and serves as the key link between materials and shop floor operations.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Labor Relations:
  • Supervise material controllers and receiving personnel; assign and manage daily work in accordance with the CBA Administer CBA provisions (overtime, seniority, scheduling, job assignments) fairly and consistently
  • Address employee issues and grievances; partner with HR/Labor Relations as needed, documenting incidences thoroughly
  • Coach performance and administer discipline per company policy and CBA
  • Maintain accurate attendance and timekeeping records
Material Flow & Production Support:
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to assembly, machining, and welding operations
  • Oversee line-side replenishment, and kanban systems
  • Respond quickly to shortages and coordinate material returns/disposition
  • Support safe and efficient material handling operations
Receiving & Inventory Control
  • Supervise receiving, ensuring accurate and timely processing of incoming materials
  • Ensure receiving clerks confirm material quantities and part numbers match purchase orders and packing slips
  • Coordinate with Quality on inspections, discrepancies, and returns
  • Lead cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy
  • Enforce proper ERP transactions and maintain organized, FIFO-compliant storage
  • Identify root causes of inventory variances and implement corrective actions
Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain 5S across all material areas
  • Participate in production meetings; communicate material risks and status
  • Drive process improvements to improve flow and reduce waste

Qualifications:
Required:
  • HS Diploma/GED Required
  • 12-15 years of materials/warehouse experience in manufacturing
  • Experience supporting assembly, machining, or welding operations
Preferred
  • Lean manufacturing, 5S, or kanban experience
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume environments
  • Familiarity with raw materials and fabricated components
