Provide Mechanical Engineering Checking support for NASA’s Engineering Mission at Armstrong Flight Research Center.
Responsibilities
- Work with Design Engineers to check the accuracy of engineering parts and drawings for proper dimensioning technique and functional dimensioning, proper GD&T application, and compliance with ASME Y14.5M, 2009 and NASA Armstrong Mechanical Drafting Standards
- Verify Engineering Fabrication/Assembly drawing notes and specifications.
- Redline drawings in electronic format and communicate changes to the engineering team.
- Knowledge of assembly and fabrication processes and familiar with fabrication shop practices
- Provide design/drafting support.
- Train/mentor other drafters and designers in proper drawing development
- Excellent communication skills
- Utilization of Solidworks PDM software
- 3+ year’s professional experience with CAD design dealing with complex mechanical design issues.
- Understand GD&T principles and how to apply them.
- Expertise with SolidWorks CAD software.
- Knowledge of Creo and AutoCAD software is desired.
- Ability to identify complex processes and implement cost-effective solutions that improve efficiency and savings.
- Knowledge of MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Education:
- Associates degree or equivalent in Computer Aided Drafting is the minimum qualification.
