Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, responsible for operation and maintenance of a conventional water treatment system
Responsibilities
- This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
- Operate, monitor, maintain and repair conventional water treatment/distribution systems, including but not limited to wells, pumps, water catchments and storage systems, water filtration treatment plants, distribution piping, valves, flow control devices, taps, line stops, backflows, chlorination/dichlorination, leak detection and analyzers
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance as well as unscheduled maintenance (Fault Repair)
- Conduct daily operations and maintenance inspections of assigned areas such as checking chemical feed systems, water collection and storage sites, water filtration treatment plants, and facility distribution system components.
- Collect and record periodic systems readings such as flow rates, system pressure, analyzer/sensor & meter readings etc.
- Adjusts Water Plant equipment, ensuring operational guidelines are followed and are incompliance with all federal, state and US Navy guidelines.
- Familiar with operation of Red Hill Shaft adsorption system and reviews its operation at least every two weeks to ensure the system is maintained in a manner appropriate to produce water fit for human consumption.
- Responds to Water Plant emergencies with appropriate immediate and subsequent actions.
- Ensures efficient and economical operation of station water production equipment.
- Maintains logs as required.
- Implements and maintains a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
- On-site representative for the project team, serves as the eyes and ears of the company
- As a member of the Project team, responsible for the implementation and of site safety, quality and compliance
- Correctly document and report supported activities
- Manages operational tasks under the direction of managers.
- Leads the project management workflow for assigned projects.
- Helps assigned teams meet and exceed their goals and objectives.
- Contributes to reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborates with managers to set procedures, policies, and processes.
- Identifies ways to increase revenue, decrease expenses, and improve efficiency.
- Assists with financial tasks, including [forecasting, expense reports, budgeting, etc.].
- Handles logistical responsibilities, including [supply chain management, customer service, client services, quality management, etc.].
- Follows all federal, state, and local business laws and regulations and company policies.

- Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Certifications: One-year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if a degree is required.
- High School diploma; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2 years of Water Treatment Plant or related technical school preferred.
- Valid Real ID Driver’s license with a clean traffic abstract.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and medical check.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of recent work-related experience in water distribution systems or water treatment plants preferred.
- Current Hawaii Water Treatment Plant Operator (WTPO) Certification Required Grade 1 or higher.
- Skills:
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
- Able to perform mathematical calculations.
- Mechanically inclined and competent using with hand-held tools.
- Electrical background a plus.
- Must be able to clear background checks for access to secure work sites.
- Computer proficiency with email, work processing, and MS Office Suite.
- Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow.
- The worker is subject to environmental conditions, heat, rain, wind.
- Activities occur inside and outside. The worker may be subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
- The worker is subject to noise. There may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- Light work. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
