Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (Rochambeau), has two (2) openings for a Volleyball Coach – Part-time for the 2026-2027 school year. The anticipated start date for this role is August 2026.

POSITION SUMMARY
As part of the development and growth of our program, we are looking for dynamic, passionate, and committed volleyball coaches for the upcoming season. Our volleyball coaches are responsible for the growth, structure, and leadership of the volleyball program. Volleyball is a pillar of student life at Rochambeau, encompassing over 100 players from Grades 6 to 12. Coaches lead practices and matches, fostering an environment of diversity, inclusion, and competitive spirit. This role requires demonstrating the competencies needed to improve student athletic mastery and to support the core values, vision, and mission of Rochambeau.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Coach one or more teams ranging from Grade 6 (6ème) to Grade 12 (Terminale)
Plan and lead engaging, effective practices and matches
Adapt training content and technical drills according to player levels and needs
Support the organization and hosting of major events, including the AEFE French Schools Tournament, which welcomes over 300 players
Maintain professional, timely, and respectful communication with players, parents, school staff, and the Athletic Department
Act as a role model for positive leadership, emphasizing sportsmanship, citizenship, and academic-athletic balance
Ensure student safety during all sessions; physically demonstrate exercises and ensure proper use of equipment
Participate in department meetings and staff training, as required
Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or his delegates
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of one (1) year of volleyball coaching experience (school, club, or college level)
Mastery of volleyball rules, techniques, and tactical strategies
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
Proven ability to physically demonstrate technical drills and exercises
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification (or the ability to obtain it before the season begins)
Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance at work (including weekday sessions in fall/spring and Saturday sessions year-round)
Computer and technological literacy
Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of information
Three Professional References (name, position, contact number and email) listed on your CV/resume
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual proficiency in French and English is strongly preferred
Experience coaching in an international or multicultural school environment
Knowledge of the AEFE sports network or inter-school championship structures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position operates in a gymnasium and outdoor athletic environment. The role requires physical mobility, including the ability to demonstrate athletic movements, prolonged periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting or moving of athletic equipment (nets, ball carts, etc.) up to 40 pounds.
