Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician - HVAC


 


General Description: Provides maintenance support to all buildings and areas of Patrick County Public Schools.


 


Requirements:



  • Hold a high school diploma or GED

  • HVACR experience and/or certification preferred

  • Possess a valid Virginia driver’s license


Reports To: Director of Maintenance


 


Essential Job Functions:



  • Maintains, services, troubleshoots, and repairs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment.

  • Assists with electrical work on lighting, circuits, electrical panels, transformers, generators and switch gears throughout the school division.

  • Performs work in the maintenance, repair, and installations of structures and fixtures.

  • Installs or repairs light fixtures.

  • Orders necessary supplies, parts, and equipment, as needed.

  • Complete work orders.

  • Repairs other equipment as needed such as custodial and food service equipment.

  • Moves equipment between school system facilities.

  • Assists in snow removal.

  • Assists other departments, as needed.

  • Responds to emergency duty assignments.

  • Fills out work orders and necessary reports.

  • Performs work in a timely manner.

  • Assumes responsibility for assigned tools.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on HVACR equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance of plumbing devices (ex. Water fountains, toilets, etc.)

  • Assists throughout maintenance when there is a need.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.


Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • General knowledge of HVACR equipment repair and materials

  • Ability to understand the operation of a wide variety of computer and electrical controls.

  • Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal mechanical codes.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces.
