Position Summary
The Journeyman – Plumbing is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing plumbing work on new construction and remodeling projects throughout the Indiana region. Working under the supervision of a designated trade manager, the Journeyman applies extensive plumbing knowledge to diagnose and repair problems, install piping systems, and ensure all work complies with building codes and safety standards. This position also plays a leadership role on the jobsite by supporting apprentices and contributing to project efficiency and quality.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Diagnose plumbing issues and perform necessary repairs on a variety of piping systems.
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair pipes, plumbing fixtures, and related systems.
- Install and repair appliances such as dishwashers, water heaters, toilets, sinks, and other fixtures.
- Test newly installed plumbing systems and fixtures to ensure proper function and compliance with codes.
- Follow state plumbing laws, OSHA standards, and adhere to local building codes on all projects.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure schedules and quality standards are met.
- Mentor and provide guidance to apprentices and less experienced plumbers.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the plumbing team and project goals.

- Strong knowledge of all phases of building construction and trade coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Skilled with plumbing tools, machines, and installation techniques.
- Expert knowledge of piping, ventilation, and plumbing systems.
- Understanding of building material costs, jobsite safety practices, and construction standards.
- Dependable, resourceful, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, or lifts in varying weather conditions.
