The Assistant Coach cooperates and assists the Head Coach in the organization and administration of the high school program. Any Assistant Coach of athletics at any level and in any sport, will be expected to maintain a high degree of integrity for carrying out their respective duties with maturity and good judgment and will act in a professional manner at all times.

FLSA Exempt (Professional Staff-OAEA)
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Coach cooperates and assists the Head Coach in the organization and
administration of the high school program. Any Assistant Coach of athletics at any level
and in any sport, will be expected to maintain a high degree of integrity for carrying out
their respective duties with maturity and good judgment and will act in a professional
manner at all times.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
• Reports directly to the Athletic Director through the Head Coach
• Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff, and others to
perform job responsibilities as outlined
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. As outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement
2. Salary as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum
levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
• Qualifications & Experience requirements vary with individual sport
• Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically
with teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside
professional contacts
Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools
or controls, and to talk and hear; Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop,
kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and
the ability to adjust focus; Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and
possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and
will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position
responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list is intended to be illustrative rather than complete and serves to show major

perform any other position-related duties requested by the Athletic Director or
Principal.
Organization and Administration:
1. Cooperates with & assists the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, even in
the off-season.
2. Administers junior varsity game details for home & away contests where
applicable.
3. Keeps accurate records of all junior varsity contests & individual &/or team
accomplishments where applicable.
4. Keeps accurate records of all equipment & properly stores in athletic storage
provided by school.
5. Keeps an accurate, written attendance record for each team member.
6. Schedules practices in coordination with the Head Coach through the Athletic
office.
7. Keeps accurate records of all contests and individuals &/or team
accomplishments.
Coaching and Practice:
1. Has a well-organized plan for each practice session.
2. Conducts practices, scrimmages, & contests in accordance with the P.I.A.A.
Guidelines.
3. Strives to develop each individual to his/her highest level of ability.
4. Fosters in each athlete a confidence & pride in his/her performance
5. Prepares each athlete to meet the everyday challenges of life.
6. Teaches self-discipline & encourage team members to subordinate individual
interest for the good of the team.
7. Teaches good sportsmanship & emphasize fair play with the opposing team.
8. Keeps abreast of new coaching techniques on a yearly basis by attending
coaching related activities coordinated through the Athletic Department.

9. Encourages students to participate in the program.
10. Utilizes as many members as possible in each activity particularly during
scheduled contests.
11. Teaches each team member the basic skills, techniques & rules required for
playing the position with emphasis on safety.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Attends any necessary meetings. This includes pre-season, during the season &
post-season.
2. Cooperates with the Athletic Trainer on all injury prevention methods &
rehabilitation of athletes.
3. Maintains discipline & treats all team members fairly.
4. Is responsible for locker room assignments, locker room security & student
safety.
5. Notifies Athletic Department of any faulty equipment and facilities where
repairs are needed.
