Job Description:Position Description
This position is responsible for all areas related to the day-to-day maintenance of the campus including upkeep and appearance of buildings, general troubleshooting and repairs, and completing service requests. Work hours: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and on occasions it may require work on weekends or after hours upon supervisor’s approval. This position reports to Facilities Manager.
Description of Job Tasks
Campus Maintenance
Repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, wood fixtures, and furniture. Perform simple carpentry tasks, such as installing shelves, hooks, or closet rods.
Perform minor repairs to building fixtures, touch-up painting, change light bulbs, and do similar minor electrical tasks. Open clogged drains, toilets, fix leaks, and perform other simple plumbing jobs. Assist in warehousing and distribution supplies, materials, and equipment as required.
Safety
Conduct regular safety checks of all campus buildings as needed and as directed. Record all safety or other concerns and report them to Facilities Manager. Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Facilities Manager. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Familiarity with electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
• Required to use considerable judgment and strong decision-making skills when performing and planning to perform his/her tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks.
• Must have the ability to work independently without supervision.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing maintenance in commercial or institutional setting. Ability to perform physical labor generally associated with general maintenance. Must be able to climb ladders and lift thirty five (35) pounds. Must possess valid driver’s license and insured automobile; ability to work at any location and attend scheduled training. Will require travel using a personal vehicle.
