Our clinic specializes in delivering compassionate care to vulnerable and underserved populations, offering critical services such as comprehensive birth control options, HIV PEP and PrEP, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in supervising the clinical management and health maintenance of clients in a variety of clinical settings using independent judgment in areas of assessment and treatment in collaboration with a physician; performs related work as assigned.

Position Duties

  • Obtains patient health history and performs physical examination, assessment, diagnosis and treatment
  • Documents notes and findings in patient medical chart
  • Makes referrals and follows clients through established nursing care plans
  • Prescribes and dispenses medication and devices
  • Directs and assists in screening programs
  • Provides complete physical assessment
  • Performs Point of Care testing, and orders, interprets and follows up on laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Provides health education and counseling
  • Participates in in service training and education
  • Maintains records and reports
  • Collaborates with staff and other clinicians to develop, update, and comply with clinical protocols
  • May review and interpret clinical policies and procedures and provides guidance as needed
  • May participate in occasional off-site clinic events
  • May perform minor in-office procedures such as IUD and Nexplanon removals/insertions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: sitting for computer work; working with and around other staff and outside agencies; dealing with interruptions; reaching; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer work, writing, and using a calculator; vision acuity (near/ far) must be able to see documents needing attention and driving; color vision for reading labels; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation with staff and customers; finger dexterity for typing/ 10-key.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and one year of nursing experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain throughout employment. Must possess a current active RN license, prescribing privileges and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Arizona; Certification by appropriate National Certification Body; current CPR certification; fingerprint clearance.

Preferred Qualifications Include
-Experience working as a nurse/Advanced Practice Nurse in a clinic setting
-Experience providing HIV PEP and PrEP services
-Experience with Nexplanon and IUD insertions and removals
-Experience providing sexual health services in a clinic setting
-Experience providing women's health services in a clinic setting
-Bilingual in English and Spanish

This position is exempt from overtime.

Note: Individuals in exempt classifications as part time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements.

This position is safety sensitive.

Considerable knowledge of:

- Principles and practices of primary health care

- Health services and their use in the provision of long range health maintenance

- Community resources for appropriate referrals

Considerable skill in:

- Physical health assessment, diagnosis and treatment

- Use of medical instruments and laboratory equipment

- Clinical standards of practice

Ability to:

- Utilize sound independent medical judgment

- Obtain and maintain DEA number

- Network with community human resource agencies

- Determine treatment plans based on client assessment

- Initiate appropriate treatment or referrals

- Prepare complete and accurate reports and records

- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public

- Follow written and verbal instructions

- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
