    Crystal Lake School District 47 has an opening for a Reading Interventionist/Reading Recovery Teacher. The goal of this position is to provide resources, diagnostic services, and supplemental reading programming for selected at-risk students. Reading interventionists/Reading Recovery teachers will also provide academic and behavioral interventions for students based on student needs as identified through the MTSS framework. 

     
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Facilitate data collection, data-based problem solving, and data-based decision making through the guidelines of the MTSS framework
    • Provide flexible interventions to students identified through the MTSS framework utilizing a variety of tools and resources
    • Plan and implement academic and/or behavioral instruction for small groups of students
    • Assess the progress of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
    • Communicate with families, teachers, and administrators regarding the progress of students
    • Maintains and completes records as required by Reading Recovery Guidelines and District 47 MTSS Guidelines
    • Maintains and improves professional competence through reading Reading Recovery Continuing Contact and other staff development opportunities
    • Attends staff meetings at building and district level and serves on committees as needed
    • Participate in curriculum development and district initiatives
    • Participate in faculty committees and student activities
    • Report to building administrators

     
    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
    • Reading Specialist required
    • Bachelor's Degree in Education
    • Student teaching and/or experience in a K-3 classroom

     
    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, effective interpersonal communication skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, and organization
    • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking and lifting equipment and materials
