Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer analyzes the state of quality in a process line or enterprise and highlights the process / procedure used to achieve a higher level of quality.
Direct Accountabilities:
· Perform investigation related to corrective actions including root cause analysis of significant product quality problems.
· Liaise with Methods Engineering, Design Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering to develop resolutions and implement root cause corrective actions to technical or quality problems.
· Perform Data analysis to detect trends on relevant quality metrics including NCR’s (non-conforming reports).
· Calculate and monitor COPQ (Cost of poor quality), present reports and investigate Root Cause of major contributors.
· Develop, implement, improve, and monitor First Article Inspection process using Net Inspect.
· Develop and maintain the process for QE design review, including design planning, verification, and validation.
· Develop, implement, and continually improve the inspection processes (applicable to the assigned area).
· Validate and approve major production process changes.
Indirect Accountabilities:
· Support preventive action to improve process and/or product quality in accordance with company's procedures.
· Review documents that affect product quality; participate in approval process on behalf of quality department.
· Support the implementation of proactive actions to reduce probability of errors that affect product quality.
· Support the implementation of best practices in production to reduce risk of errors that affect product quality.
· Maintain a system of continuous improvement in the areas of calibration and information management.
Education required:
· A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
· Bachelor's degree in engineering or post-secondary education in a related discipline OR acceptable combination of education and experience in the field of aeronautics or manufacturing high precision product.
· Experience employing quality engineering techniques/tools to isolate problems or understand production trends.
· Experience determining issue/casual analysis leading to implementing corrective actions.
· Experience working with an Enterprise resource planning (ERP) Database such as IFS
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage conflicts.
· Good organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimum of supervision and direction.
· Good problem-solving skills and techniques.
· Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Assets
· Experience with Net Inspect or similar inspection software is a plus.
· Experience working as a QC inspector OR working closely with QC inspectors is a plus.
· Working knowledge of PowerBI is a plus.
Competencies
· Excellent computer skills relating to creating, modifying, and processing controlled documents
· Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
