Job Description

JVA is seeking a full-time Project Engineer to join our Historic and Existing Structures Studio within the Structural Engineering department of our employee-centric firm. The position can be filled in our Boulder, Denver, or Fort Collins office. Successful candidates will apply structural engineering principles and practices to analyze existing buildings and design solutions. Project Engineers will work in tandem with senior staff to plan, schedule, and coordinate all phases of the engineering work. Projects range from dilapidated barns to grand public buildings with, and without, historic building designations.

EXAMPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct small- to medium-size projects.
  • Supervise engineering tasks of Design Engineers.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to develop project work breakdown structure, assign tasks, and monitor project budget.
  • Prepare assessment reports and design narratives.
  • Perform structural analysis, design and detailing for small-, medium-, and large-size projects.
  • Produce structural models, plans, and details using REVIT. Coordinate modeling efforts of design engineers and BIM modelers.
  • Create building analysis models using RAM or RISA.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and perform field observations.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain Colorado PE License within six months of hire: Have the required combination of education and engineering experience to be able to obtain a Colorado PE license within six months of hire.
  • Wood Experience: Ability to analyze wood, timber, and log framed buildings and design strengthening measures.
  • Masonry Experience: Exposure to masonry design and willingness to learn unreinforced masonry analysis and repair techniques.
  • Software Utilization: Ability to produce structural plans and details in REVIT. Experience creating structural building models in RISA or RAM.
