Job Description

Purpose of Position

Support the continual growth of real estate projects by improving efficiency and consistency across projects. Help plan and design projects to ensure that all stakeholders are on the same page. Identify cost savings opportunities and negotiate with contractors and suppliers to ensure the best value. Ensure that the project is completed to the desired specifications to prevent rework and meet all deadlines. Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate. Ensure that projects comply with building codes, zoning laws, and other legal requirements. Provide technical support for developing design documentation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Design - Aid in the design process, working with architects and engineers to ensure that the design meets the project requirements, complies with building codes and other regulations, and is feasible within the project's budget and timeline.

  • Assist the design team by researching products, systems, and materials that accomplish design intent
  • Prepare design options and feasibility studies along with sketches, space plans, and renderings to convey conceptual designs
  • Assist with refining construction performance criteria and specifications for all materials, finishes, products and equipment selections
  • Compile and maintain Standards Material Library
  • Conduct existing conditions surveys and prepare architectural base plans, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate to document relevant conditions
  • Assist the design team by researching products, systems, and materials that accomplish design intent
  • Prepare design options and feasibility studies along with sketches, space plans, and renderings to convey conceptual designs
  • Develop design manuals for NetJets Corporate Standard compliance including, but not limited to: demolition plans; partition plans; reflected ceiling plans; telephone/electric/data plans; finish plans; large scale details plans; sections and elevations; detail drawings for millwork and cabinetry; schedules for doors, frames, hardware, architectural finishes and partition types
  • Review shop drawings and provide feedback to consulting design professionals.
  • Update building/facility maps and uploading to facility management system for moves, additional workspaces, and changes to existing workspace.
  • Make updates to NetJets CRE standards, playbook, and workplace guidelines as needed.

Project Planning & Coordination - The Associate Designer serves as a point of contact for project stakeholders, including internal lines of the business, contractors, vendors, architects, and engineers.

  • Define Project scope and requirements, identify potential risks, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that the project is completed in scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Assist in the review and processing of all shop drawing/sample submissions and consult with the Design Manager, Project Manager, and Construction Manager, as appropriate, to ensure design intent is being maintained
  • Participate in the punch list process

Education Requirements:

Interior Design or Interior Architecture Degree  

 

  • Proficiency in REVIT and/or AutoCAD is required
  • Knowledge of Design Manuals for branded environments
  • Familiar with National CAD standards
  • Prior experience working in Architecture and Design Industry
  • Minimum Associate’s (2 years) degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture or Drafting technology
  • General knowledge of construction trades, especially millwork details, wood and steel framing, concrete,
  • masonry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing building codes
  • Knowledge of how to field measure and draw as-built’s is a must
  • Ability to understand contract documents, plans, and specifications
  • Excellent time management skills and detail oriented
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Location: In Columbus office 5 days per week
  • Some Travel is required
