Position Summary

The Lift Maintenance Assistant is a full-time, seasonal position that assists Lift Mechanics as directed in all aspects of aerial and surface lift maintenance.  They will function as member of a team while performing under stringent time constraints and must also be able to work throughout the day with little direct supervision.  The position also demands extended periods of time working in varied and primarily inclement weather conditions, working at heights greater than 6’, as well as being able to work safely around heavy equipment and rotating machinery that is in operation.  This position could potentially lead to, but does not guarantee, a position as a Lift Mechanic.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with all control systems and operate all lifts using the main drive and auxiliary drives.

  • Perform daily pre-operational and operational inspections on all lifts.

  • Climb ladders to and work at height while adhering to mandatory fall protection procedures.

  • Clear machinery and equipment of ice or other obstructions; included, but not limited to: tower machinery, terminal machinery, detachable grips, and carriers.

  • Perform lift inspections.

  • Clean various machinery, equipment, and tools as necessary.

  • Complete work orders, work requests, and logs promptly.

  • Perform some basic lift maintenance tasks under the supervision of or by the instruction of a Lift Mechanic.

  • Navigate and travel safely to all lifts and maintenance areas utilizing 4x4 side-by-side OHVs, 4x4 trucks, and over-the-snow vehicles.

  • Assist Lift Operations with pre-operational lift preparations.

  • Work beyond scheduled hours regularly with little or no notice.

Secondary Function

Operate lifts for passengers.

Job Scope

As outlined and defined by the Lift Maintenance Supervisor.

Interpersonal Contacts

  • Daily interaction with other Lift Maintenance Assistants, Lift Mechanics, Lift Operators, Lift Access, Ski Patrol, and guests.

  • Occasional or varied interaction with Vehicle Mechanics, Parts Room Administrator, Grooming personnel, and Facilities Maintenance personnel.

Specific Job Skills

  • Licenses/Certifications: Current and valid Driver’s License.

  • Technical: Basic machinery controls; industrial safety guidelines and procedures; mechanical familiarity.

  • Physical Capabilities: Climb tower and terminal ladders; climb on, over, and around structural elements; work with hand tools and power tools; perform necessary work functions while wearing a full body harness or other personal protective equipment; walk on uneven or irregular surfaces.

  • Additional: Communicate clearly and effectively using radio communications; hazard recognition.

Education/Related Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum Experience: 6 months of mechanical experience.
