Job Description

SUMMARY 

 Assists technologists by assisting with patient preparation, CTA heart scans, and emergency response duties, while also taking on essential workflow and imaging support tasks. The role is ideal for a skilled and compassionate paramedic who thrives in a fast-paced outpatient imaging environment. 

 TOP ESSENTAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Preparation & Clinical Support 
    • Assist technologists in preparing patients for imaging exams, ensuring comfort, safety, and accurate positioning. 
    • Interview patients, obtain relevant medical histories, and verify proper identification. 
    • Start IVs and draw blood as needed, including obtaining BUN/creatinine labs for contrast studies. 
    • Educate and monitor patients undergoing CTA heart scans, including medication preparation and vital sign monitoring. 


    Medication & Emergency Oversight 

    • Oversee the safe preparation and administration of medications specific to CTA heart procedures. 
    • Act as Emergency Response Coordinator for the site; lead emergency protocols and drills. 
    • Perform initial medical response to on-site emergencies until EMS arrives. 
    • Conduct monthly checks of crash carts and emergency equipment; ensure readiness and compliance. 


    Radiology Workflow & Technical Assistance 

    • Use RIS and PACS systems to enter, verify, and manage patient data and exam documentation. 
    • Retrieve and prepare prior images, reports, and CDs for referring physicians. 
    • Stock exam rooms and maintain clean, organized clinical spaces. 
    • Support technologists with patient transfers, positioning, and scanning preparation. 
    • Supports the mission, vision, and values of the corporation. 


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Current State of Michigan Paramedic License (required) 
  • BLS and ACLS certification (required) 
  • Phlebotomy and IV start experience required 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency, pre-hospital, or acute care setting 
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience in outpatient or radiology setting preferred 

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Medical Assistant certification preferred, or equivalent work experience and training. Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience including the ability to start IV’s and perform angio-cath injections.  Possess basic medical terminology knowledge in order to obtain thorough medical histories. Certification in CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens. Must hold a current ARRT certificate if performing X-ray. Must continue to obtain the recommended amount of Continuing Educations Credits each year for your certifications. Continuing education in accordance of the ARRT, ACR, and State of Michigan.
